And of course, a topical reference or two to the 1964-'65 [New York] World Fair...and "The Flintstones" were actually a part of it, at one pavillion (as noted in January 1965's "Time Machine" episode).
This was originally telecast in February 1965. When you're trying to refer to a popular singing group of the day without actually mentioning them by name...AND filming an episode that's supposed to be "timeless" (for future syndication), you'd naturally use "shorthand" and say- "bug music" by "The 4 Insects" {"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!"}. There were other references to "the mop tops" in several 1965 episodes {i.e. "The Beasties", in "Masquerade Party"}.
