It looks like the bloke here does not like anyone criticising his interpretation of Telstar, which is why he "approves" comments before "allowing" them to be viewed by other, who the hell does he think he is then ?
Sounds like a coward to me, who cannot take criticism of any variety.

Don't forget the original sound / song / cmposition was dione by the late Joe Meek. The cuurent line up of Telstar as in the band minus mr Meek, will only be able to adapt the tune accordingly as in interpret. The thing is their interpretation is a sight better than this!

Agreed !

Maybe Ignorance Determines Intelligence (MIDI)...that seems to be your mantra. Some people can't tell real from programmed. Must be the sores from the ruler.

The drum beat on this is so "synthetic" it hurts.
It's accurate as far MIDI goes but not as the song was intended to be played. I have the full score of it somewhere.
These days I only use MIDI for learning what I am told to learn. MIDI had a baid rate of 9600 CPS, which makes everything too synthetic. No pianist I know plays at speed, with computer accuracy.

I know precisely what an interpretation and an improvisation is and no my piano teach never cries when I play. She shouts when I get it wrong but never cries. she also whacks my knuckles with a ruler, but it gets you too play correctly. She is however a professional taught by Joseph Winegarten at Sidney Smith School of Music, London. I guess she knows her stuff. I'm not ignorant either. I have the original vinyl of this tune (Blue one)
This MIDI version does not do it justice. MIDI never does !

Something tells me that your piano teacher cries a great deal...especially when you play.

No offence but, Why is the tempo, rhythm and key wrong on this. It's close though.
The rhythm is to slow and the treble should be higher, it was deliberately recorded to sound "scratchy". I just checked it on my piano and all the F's sharp which would make the starting key Bb, for a piano.
The tempo acording to the original score is 150 and I can only see 1 key change. the rhythm is described as 16 beat studio beat, very similar to a fast ballad sort of
Hope this helps

It's an interpretation. Do you know what that means? Or are you into just copying or sampling everything with no hint of originality? Spread your wings and learn how to grow!
