This is the only available visual record of Dame Margot in her signature role. Originally telecast April 29, 1957.

Music of my youth: Prokofiev's Cinderella with choreography by The Royal Ballet's Sir Fredrick Ashton (who also appears as one of the stepsisters) and Margot Fonteyn as Cinderella. Notably, Kenneth MacMillan appears in this production as the second, "bossy" stepsister. MacMillan later choreographed the Royal Ballet's stunning and world-famous production of Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet, my favorite ballet.
