Crimson Tide Drifting [Revisit]

This is an updated version of the older 'Crimson Tide Drifting' video.
Are there any good delightfully free programs out there to to recode into mpeg? Desk-tapping becomes an old and boring recreation when waiting for these .mov files to upload.

Almost the entirety of this was done with stop motion (all photographs moosed together.)
I'm going to use this approach again in the future to drive myself g'damn mad and try and do a better job with content.
