Good for your friend. I have noticed many people that start making a decent living jumping to a used high-end German model for the "bling"- with mixed results. I hope it was a CPO model or that the Cayenne is less prone to problems than most used German marques.
My friend moved from a Grand Caravan to a Cayenne S (albeit a used one.) Money situations and family situations dictate what car you're in, so people driving heaps don't always drive heaps.
What is a GC? If you're meaning Dodge Grand Caravan I would have to disagree, the Caravan is a cheap pile- they would move to a Jeep Liberty or some other American pile.
I don't agree that this is understyled- it just tries to appeal to people coming out of GCs, Tahoes (many ppl are downsizing), etc., as he says. It doesn't appeal to me, but I know it does to a lot of people. I will agree that Honda has made some poor choices lately though, like the terrible looking Crosstour, or the ZDX which almost certainly won't bring anyone up from an MDX.
Also, I'd assume that the more effort and R&D that goes into a design, the more it costs, and the better it turns out.
where the acura is overstyled, the honda is understyled. Meet in the middle. You know it takes just as much money to design a beautiful design, as it does an unattractive one. Where has honda been lately?
