  • Special effects don't mean shit if the writing's bad.

  • The real reason the TNG films were done was because Paramount was milking the cash cow.

  • They do have a sequel in the works, which means they have a perfect opportunity to make up for the character development that this movie so sorely lacked.

  • As far as I'm concerned having recently acquainted myself with the TNG series in its entirety, the TNG movies can't even be considered canon. They just contradict too many well established facts, elements, character traits and what have you. The same goes even more so for this. What excuses it in this however is that this movie is intentionally trying to reinvent (reboot) Star Trek, whereas the TNG films were just inexcusably retarded.

  • @QuorkEx at lest at first.

  • The motivation for doing the original Trek movies was that the TOS series had ended with people wanting more. The Next Generation films never had that impetus.

  • I knew something was VERY wrong when Spock stuck Kirk into an escape pod, rather than the brig.............Good thing I wasn't wearing my TNG movie uniform, I would have been ashamed. Someone contact me with TNG era decides to guest star in the new Trek franchise !

  • The existence of the latest Star Trek film is proof of the ineptitude of Hollywood when it comes to coherent plot and characters with depth. The success of the film is proof of how insipid the movie-going audience can be. We're in for bad times. It's going to be all remakes and crappy adaptions of books from now on.

  • Star Trek (09) is pretty much a dumb action flick and I love it but I've always wondered why Nero didn't just tell his fellow Romulans/the Vulcans/the Federation what was going to happen to Romulus and when, and tell them that he has the solution?

  • Khan was in stasis for centuries only to be held prisoner and exiled to Ceti Alpha V. For all we know he might have been against the Eugenics Wars and guilty about the fact he was a superior human. He might have been betrayed by people close to him, only to be betrayed by Kirk. He lost his wife, comrades and home. All of the known things, much less the unknown, about his past drove him insane.

Nero just baww'd for a bit, yelled all of his lines and jumped around his ship like a frog on speed.

  • After watching the movie, I remember thinking they should have called it "Star Trek XI: Explosive Flatulence". Because we all know how "awesome" explosions and farts are, so why not combine them, right? The movie itself felt like a few great moments smothered by explosions and awful writing/character motivation.

  • Listening to these and them comparing Kirk from the Orignals to this is stupid because you have to remember kirks dad wasnt there soo obviously he is going to be different :S :S !
