November 11th is Veterans Day, a day to honor America's military Veterans. Since 1954, the Veterans Day National Committee has worked to ensure Veterans Day receives proper and widespread observance. Part of that outreach this year includes this video for students explaining how and why we honor Veterans, not just on Veterans Day, but year-round.

On the VA Veterans Day page you'll find not only this video but also Veterans Day History, local and national observances and resources to teach students the value of honoring our Veterans. Visit the site at http://www.va.gov/opa/vetsday and be sure to follow VA on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/VeteransAffairs) and Twitter (http://twitter.com/DeptVetAffairs

  • @wowspare Our country is not invincible my friend. Without the brave men and women that gladly gave their lives for us, America would be under the crown. Or even be speaking German. Our freedoms are not free, few people I know seem to understand that.

  • As a veteran of Desert Storm in 1991 and a current member of American Legion post 88. I read most people are thankful. But of course you have people that have no soul or mental development to understand. I CAN SEPARATE BIG BUSINESS AND POLITICAL GAIN, from Patriotism....... I have been also involved in other missions after the war worldwide also. I seev the 4 thumbs down for this video. I have a rich family history form ww1to iraqi freedom full of veterans. Sad Civilians just don't get it....

  • People who hate the united states armed forces , may I ask why? And can I have a serious response with facts

  • @kreuzpanther Ok, i can see where you come from on that. I'd still be open to the idea of invasion if not right after Europe fell then later on. Also i doubt very many people outside of Germany knew of the camps.

  • @tymax96 The Germans were already on the withdrawal. Their forces were concentrated in the East. The Americans fought mostly German foreign legions on D-Day. They simply hadn't the manpower to occupy America, nor a reason to. They couldn't even get a hold of Europe, it was a useless operation to begin with. If the Allies somehow surrendered, I am pretty sure they would have been a coup d'état against HItler because of the mass murder in the camps instead of Hoolywoodesque world domination stuff

  • @kreuzpanther They would've been destroyed if America hadn't taken the pressure off them and diverted Hitler's forces. Also who's to say he wouldn't have invaded America?

  • @tymax96 Is this what Americans really think? Hollywood got you good. World War 2 was ultimately won by the Russians and even if Germany would have won it would have hardly try to force the USA to speak German LOL

  • i hate u veterans. thanks for dieing for me!! just kidding, fuck you!
