On June 25, 2009, fifty-five deaf and orphaned preschool children participated in the traditional "Wai Khru" ceremony at the Pattaya Orphanage. Presided over by Rev. Fr. Michael Weera Phangrak, Director of both Sotpattana School for Deaf Children and the Pattaya Orphanage, gave a brief remark about the importance of being good children and obedience to parents and teachers. While representatives of the children offered ceremonial trays decorated with candles, joss sticks and flowers to their teachers as a sign of deep respect and gratitude, other children attentively looked on until it's their time to present pink roses to their beloved teachers and elders. At the end of the meaningful annual event, all the children enjoying packs of tasty goodies.
