Tropical Storm Irene pummeled the Berkshires of Massachusetts with copious amounts of rain on August 28, 2011. The end result was a record increase of river levels never seen on rivers in this area. Note that the Hoosic River was five feet higher earlier on. Many areas upstream and downstream had mandatory evacuations. This was the worst flood event I have ever witnessed here.

P.S. This video has not been edited as of yet so I apologize for random movements of the video I took on my iPod.

  • @caseyandakela Agreed...it could have been worse though. We could have had more rain which could have put the river OVER the chutes. We were lucky compared to areas upstream and on other rivers, creeks, and streams

  • Thank goodness for flood chutes!
