  • THANK YOU for being leery of tape on the drum heads. As a drummer, I can tell you it gets very frustrating that so many "audio guys" go straight to muffling the drums with tape and whatever else they can find.

  • When you put the mic in the port it forces more air to travel through the mic. When you lie it inside the drum the air tends to go around the mic and you dont get as much attack.

  • This is an Helpful video, but i just wonder one thing and i cant seem to get the answer... What is the difference for the sound between having the microphone going through the porthola and then just lying inside the drum and when its on a stand, peeking into the porthole?

  • this looks to be an interesting technique, one of which i have not tried myself.

it would have been useful if you could have demonstrated the sound that this techniques produces!
