Here we have Maisie, a Holstein-Friesian breed of dairy cattle originating in North Holland and Friesland. Commonly called Holsteins in the United States, these large cattle with sharply defined black and white spotted markings are believed to have been bred for their dairy qualities for two thousand years. They produce a high yield of milk which has a low butterfat content. We are back again at Park Farm, Ramsbottom, where the cows are grazing in the fields high above the Rossendale Valley. This is a nice shot of Maisie - pink eyes and now pregnant - seen here with one of her friends although she seems more interested in the green grass than that of the company she keeps. It's another sunny day in Lancashire and the date is Sunday 7th October 2007.
