  • I think Gail should fall on her sword. She has ruined the school. Where are the superior English speaking Chinese students? Acadia has none. You are a failure. Kyle is also a tool, he is trying to grasp on to power that doesn't exist. I like when the interviewer said "little rally".....that was sweet.

  • I didn't mean to come across as belittling Kyle's efforts by saying little rally. I cringed when I heard what I said to Kyle. I know the neutral stance is controversial in some eyes but it has allowed for good relations with both sides. If the student body was more engaged 4 weeks ago when the ASU tried to obtain a quorum things would be different.

  • OK, note to self, when my 6 and 4 year olds get to University, if the profs are so overworked and are not able to properly do their job, I'll encourage them to go elsewhere!

  • FYI, the school doesn't make very much more from international students. There is a slight premium, but the main reason is that the CDN gov't subsidizes a large % of the real cost of the year of academic study (i.e. the net difference between 14349 and 8000 or whatever it is)

  • Domestic enrollment is through the floor, and Canadian students only pay a fraction compared with foreign (Chinese)students (who pay 14,349). So it's a necessary cost to allow the school's local reputation to be destroyed in the absence of strong leader, as long as I'm securing a future supply of foreign students to save the school from financial ruin.

Seems like Dr. Gottlieb's trip to China was an implicit admission of her priority and lack of dedication to her current students and faculty.

  • Sounds like Gail did a lot in China...

Maybe she is concentrating only on the positive sides... has she forgotten her role as an icon back home at Acadia? She is definately not a popular icon anymore.

"It hadn't occurred to me to have to explain myself..." You are being paid by the students. You are supposed to be the image of the university. Stay accountable to the students. Stay popular with the student... Unless that is you are resigning after this year and got a free trip to China haha
