There's so many great covers of this song out there. My favourite cover is probably the one by Shawn Lane or Derek and the Dominos, but this blows my mind too.

I remember Stanley Jordan playing on the streets of Grenwich Village. I saw him a few times there and was in awe.The Village was like that then.Great artists could still be heard there like that.At the time I had never heard anyone like him.He was so fresh.

Certainly far from "unrecognizable " . Come in at any part of the tune and listen for 10 seconds and anyone who's ever heard it would recognize it. Different? Yes! Very! But this is Stanley Jordan, not Stevie Ray. Even Stevie took "Little Wing" to territory well beyond what Jimi had in mind. The original Jimi version is like 3 1/2 maybe 4 minutes long? Ever hear Stevie do less than double that? Jimi sang the words, most everyone else does an instrumental version. IMHO Stanley does a great job.
