The Beach Boys (with Mike Love, vocals, Bruce Johnston, keyboard/vocals, John Cowsill on drums, and guest appearance by John Stamos on drums, guitar and vocals) perform When I Grow Up To Be A Man at Asser Levy Park in Brooklyn, NY. 7-22-2010
@MyPaulHenry yes, i agree. many people seem to dislike Mike Love, and i dont know much about why, but he was an important partner to Brian, even if mostly as a muse - a spirit - Brian being so cerebral and a genius of course. they were a good combination of fun and brains, not that Mike is not smart, but his energy was very effective as their front man and his lyrics captured a moment in time. long ago. good combo - they were.
@janejetsonbot Amazing how well Mike can still sing. This is a more difficult song to sing than, for example, I Get Around, which I'll bet he can do nearly perfectly today. He sang with ease, and his voice (along with Al Jardine's don't forget) were mightly contributions to the Beach Boys' sound. All America needed was Fun Fun Fun. We did not need the Beatles or even Bob Dylan, whose Like a Rolling Stone was and is one of my all time favorite songs nevertheless.
