  • im a beginner, and i have some questions. what kind of gravel do you have to use if you want real plants? what do you have to add to the tank so the plants dont die? and other things i need to know in order for me to have a successful planted aquarium thank you :) ( i have 50 gallon tank and im thinking of getting neon tetras)

  • @jonstriforce there are options, that will depend on your budget.

Spend some time reading Tom Barr's stuff.

It can be a bit of a slog, but the information is all there.

  • I'm setting up a 130 gallon planted tank and I'm looking for a wood center piece. I can't seem to find anything like you have. Can you tell me where I might find a nice piece like yours? And very nice tank, how many gallons?

  • it was sold as spider wood, i bought it in oxford, uk, after months of trying to find the right piece in the wild.

specs. 6x2x2, 160 gallons(uk), 135watts of t5 lighting, co2 yeast reactors, minimal filtration by eheim, set up 1 yr ago.

    glad you like it.

  • super

    :-)

  • Did the Julii's dig stuff up? I'm planning to start a planted tank with some carpet planting (hc maybe?) and wanting to eventually get either a shoal of false juliis or juliis.

  • Nice aquarium! Please check out mine

  • this tank is just prefect.

  • Grats Mate you have done what many could not .... Make a clearly well running and incredible planted aquarium , stunning mate well done .... But Just afew ideas, should throw afew more fish in there , wish a tank like this I'd turn it into a community tank instead of a peaceful aquarium, silver sharks and clown loaches would work a beaut in this tank .
