This is what a fire alarm sounds like in our apartment.

Vrooooop. Vrooooop. This alarm goes off until one of two things happen. 1) they turn it off, or 2) the fire chief comes on and says to evacuate the building. Luckily we've never had to evac.

I'm in Vantage Pointe (tower attached to the Mid town market coop) and we have a silencer in every suite for the fire alarm. Which is very loud, and very irritating, kinda sounds like the recorded bells that the new Ctrains play to get people out of the way in the core
