Amblyopia occurs when one eye develops more quickly or one eye has a physical defect. A child relies on the stronger eye, making the other weaker. The brain ignores the vision from the weaker "lazy" eye. Amblyopia is mainly due to misaligned eyes, refractive error, or cloudiness in one eye. Learn more at http://www.geteyesmart.org.
