Simon Young, bassist of The Slants, talks about his customer Fender Jaguar basses. Each one was designed by Simon and hand crafted by the U.S Fender custom shop.

The Slants are an electronic dance band with an Asian flair. Playing their own brand of "Chinatown Dance Rock," they have been touring the country in support of their debut album, "Slanted Eyes, Slanted Hearts." The Slants' music is available at ITunes, Amazon, BestBuy.com, and fine record stores nationwide.

Filmed and edited by Geoffery Gagner. Footage from Music Fest NW 2008 and Kumoricon 2008.

Song is "We Will Never Die" by The Slants from "Slanted Eyes, Slanted Hearts."

  • I just got one used today! My first fender!

  • @IDontUsePicks - Awesome, congratulations!

  • (this is Simon) - I started playing bass in 1992, so it's been about 18 years now (and started playing music instruments in the mid 80's actually).

  • I just checked out this band.

    Hmm...they're nothing but posers.

  • Haha, wow, that is the

coolest bass i have ever seen, 8D

i think it looks amazing :D

  • Thank you; we're actually working with Fender about designing a line so you can get one too. Last year, we gave away a free custom shop bass to one of our fans at Sakuracon!

  • @MrAngel999 dude tons of really experienced bassists use a pick. Paul McCartney and Duff McKagn are examples. Don't hate on using a pick. Its just their preference of tone and style.
