  • I would have liked to have seen the Flying Fortress at the beginning of this clip, instead of the four words in big, red, massive letters.

  • Ahhhh! Good old London, England. Back in the days before the rot set in. When bobbies could still clip you round the ear, when parents didn't go into schools to attack teachers who'd disciplined their children. When people didn't spit on the pavement and when pedestrians used litter bins.

  • You notice the decline in respect from the youth today since it became illegal for a school teacher to give you a slap if you were out of line. Or since a police office was unable to give you a good kicking for breaking the law.

  • amazing footage

  • I enjoyed this video so much, reminded me of the London I loved, so different then.

  • Just after the Downing St shot was that smoke over the rooftops that he was filming? As it was 1944 it could have been smoke following a V1 bomb?

  • Recently, I found your channel and want to say thank you! My father who is British will be 91 years old on 11/26/2011 he lost everything during WWII, and to show him your vids of London puts a smile on his face! My mother who was from Wales was a WWII surgical nurse who would have really enjoyed these moments captured in time! Cheers and thanks again!

  • Bring back Bile Beans! (Whatever they were)

  • This is an amazing bit of footage > It's funny really but as i was growing up i always noticed a big difference in the way my grandparents generation talked about the war and the way the parents did . The difference was the grandparents were adults in the 1940s and the parents were kids. In 2011 if you really want to know what it was like then.. talk to 90 year old not a 70 year old . An read Mass Observation too .. ordinary comtempory accounts shattering the myths
