He sounded more annoyed then impressed though. Theres a line from an old movie, "a lady loves a guy who just adores her home made apple pie, the pie that he know she bought in a bakery." The nice, polite thing to do is always to assume the person made whatever the food is, if you ask me.

I do not, however, think he was deliberately trying to be mean. Just kind of thinking out loud, maybe even deep down thinking the people where trying to deceive him and being slightly annoyed by that.
