  • It would be a really good idea to use rubber grommets on the holes wherever wiring passes through sheet metal, otherwise vibration will cause the wiring to rub through the insulation and short out, which may cause a fire if the fuses don't blow.

  • Breathe easy. I have since included grommets.

  • Everyone can breathe easy. I've installed a grommet. It really is necessary. I should have done it before shooting the video.

Remember kids, always use a grommet to prevent shorting from chafing of the wire.

  • I am running windows 7 Ultimate in my rig.. 14" Screen up front, 21" in the rear.. This is a clean install, Very nice.. I used a Hp Slimline pc and inverter and it works fairly nice.. 7.1 is insane in the car :)

  • bravo! I'm a tad clearer on the set up, but alas about $600 shorter than I thought. I was hoping I could jimmy rig a kenwood dvd/gps stereo and use it's screen but since there's no video input I know of I'm back to my willie coyote drawing board. I just started thinking about this as I want to have a mobile office, sound studio and God mode powers to the net ;)

  • @0:14 not really the best to put computer circuitry directly on carpet. Static discharge will kill many components.

  • this is girly car, und car for man with ein suspicious mustache

  • Do you pay for the XM radio?

  • I like your install. Nice and neat! Is it possible to have seperate sub control?

I am planning to install a carpc in my 300zx. I have purchased a VIA 2500 just wating for it to arive. Its a little low spec, but hopefully it will be enough to play MP3's, GPS software and digital radio.

  • What are your thoughts on this idea?:

Assuming the layout of your car will allow, you could install a large touchpad as your input device and position it so that you can easily use it with your hand on the center arm rest. Since the real limitation to your screen clarity is the touch screen tech, you can now replace it with a normal screen. Since normal screens are also cheaper, you'd also afford a higher resolution, no?

  • A Volkswagen Beetle. :(

  • Listening to Avril Lavigne while driving a VW Bug? You sure have the deepest voice of any women I have ever heard.

  • @Z14LDO better cooling next time!
