@Boddahism As it happens, you're wrong as to where JD Fortune's stage name came from. His name at birth was Jason Dean Bennison and his Mother's maiden name is Fortune, and from that voila comes JD Fortune! Nothing to do with JD Salinger or Flame Fortune I'm afraid!

It was decided to name an artist Adele for Adele Island in Western Australia after I wrote Rolling in the Deep. Australia being the home of INXS. The song was written about my relationship with Michael Hutchence and "make your home down there" was a reference to Australia being called "Down Under"

@Boddahism Since I was naming artists for famous novelist, "J.D." (Salinger) Fortune, Shania (Mark) "Twain", I went one step further and named an artist for Jonathan Swift combined with Elizabeth Taylor's surname...Taylor Swift.

While learning about Salinger's Catcher In The Rye we found, according to Ian Hamilton, it had "become the book all brooding adolescents had to buy, the indispensable manual from which cool styles of disaffectation could be borrowed. It has been compared to Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This is where I got the idea to name an artist for Twain after writing songs for her...Shania Twain.

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger was known for it's liberal use of profanity and portrayal of sexuality and teenage angst. It also deals with complex issues of identity, belonging, connection, and alienation. Both, Kurt and the artist who went by J.D. Fortune took on this persona.

I wrote By My Side for INXS using one of my inspirations, something I used when writing songs for Evanescence. This was the title to Billy Squier's song "In The Dark". "In the dark of the night" - By My Side. This was written when I was still very much in love with Michael Hutchence, but we spent much time apart due to his career and I was still a teen in high school.

@1687hernandez No. It doesn't bother me. I enjoy the challenge. Back to the facts. Rock Star INXS was a fraud show. The entertainer who was chosen to be the lead singer of INXS was brought to meet me when still a kid. I gave him his stagename for J.D. Salinger (who Kurt Cobain had chosen Salinger's character Holden Caufield as part of his public persona) and for Flame Fortune who Michael Hutchence had tried to promote in the '80s. The song Sex Symbol by Fortune is where Prince got the idea.
