In protest of the execution of Oreo, the "miracle dog" who survived being thrown off a Brooklyn rooftop, only to be nursed to health by the ASPCA then put to death while Pets Alive, an animal sanctuary specializing in troubled and abused dogs, was willing to adopt her for life and further rehabilitate her, activists in New York City visited the
home of Ed Sayres - the president of the ASPCA, on late Saturday evening.

Additionally, right after Oreo's death, the ASPCA executed another pit bull named Max, and once again a sanctuary, Maria's Promise, stepped forward and offered to take Max and give them a home for life.

Once again the ASPCA, under the direction of the unqualified and unlicensed "behaviorist" Victoria Wells and President Ed Sayres, decided to kill the dog anyways and snub the efforts of real *no-kill* organizations who dedicate their lives to animals, not to the image of competence that the ASPCA kills animals to maintain.

Following this, the ASPCA responded to a cruelty call for a dog now known as Justice who lived outdoors in Queens NY, in the WINTER, and was suffering from bites from another dog the family had outside, and an advanced and serious case of mange.

The ASPCA officer responding said Justice was "fine", and did not remove the dog from the abusive owners. That night a brave rescuer took Justice and brought him to a vet, who treated Justice's injuries and mange, saying Justice would not have survived the night without getting medical care.

The ASPCA responded to this rescuer by threatening the person with arrest, and ordering the dog be returned to his abusive home.

Until the ASPCA changes their euthanization policies and the parties responsible for Oreo's death - Ed Sayres, the president and Victoria Wells, the unlicensed behaviorist - resign, the protests will continue.

  • @mlposten Most people don't know that PETA euthanizes many animals. I only found out because a few years ago 2 PETA volunteers took something like 75 cats from a no-kill shelter near where I live & killed them, then disposed of their bodies in a dumpster (true story) they were prosecuted. The lady who ran the shelter was baffled! She thought she was giving them to another no-kill network & making room for more cats, it's very sad & I do not support PETA in any way!

  • Do you protest PETA? All kill shelters? Since they have killed animals that could have been adopted. And this is a serious question not being sarcastic. Also what rescues do you donate too? Since I have seen adoptable animals killed even one I said I would adopt which was perfectly healthy and a home waiting.

  • Your absulutly right

  • this is amazing. i wish i could do something about that. why bother saving animals when you kill them as well. ASPCA has helped many animals, but has also killed many healthy ones. this made me cry. DONT DONATE TO ASPCA BECAUSE YOUR MONEY WILL GO TO THE KILLINGS

  • I wish i was in NY to hang with you guys,i have not forgotten about this tragedy,i can assure you everyone in Washington state will not forget so quickly,i keep cross posting this horrible act buy an organization that is supposed to be a voice for those that don't have a voice,ASPCA should be ashamed of themselves, hang tight guys don't let anyone forget this or it will keep happening to innocent pitbulls. You are all wonderful people and ARE making a difference.
