Anybody know where I can get a copy of this performance? It sounds like the pacing is divine... and you just couldn't ask for better singers... ( maybe one or two equals!)

Actually the high D at 4:50 is much better than an F, ugly in a male voice even if sung by the topless Nicolai Gedda.

I don't like the way he prepared the top note,something he does in the throat 4'46 to support the note.It's not very elegant, and the same at the end of the aria 5'09, 5'12. Well, personally it's not my favorite.

So beautiful! Kraus is my favorite in this role despite Pavarotti singing the high F (in falset) in the Decca set with Sutherland. As a Dutchman Deutekom is my favorite for this opera, but there is too little for her in this aria.

ugh. this is such a moving piece. alfredo has owned my heart since the first time I heard him sing. Deutekom, on the other hand, is a lady that I had to warm up to. but after much listening...she has definitely enlightened me with her skills. however, the moment in this song that just made me almost lose it...was the note Kraus hits around 4:50. impecccccccccaaaaablllleeee

@deadlift65 ti comprendo...da qualche tempo è diventato impossibile troovare un tenore che sappia fare gli acuti!Si sbraita,si grida,si ulula e si guadagna!e vabbe che ci vogliamo fare!Accontentiamoci di filmati in bianco e nero!50 anni fa i tenori capaci di fare acuti a ruota erano ovunque!Peccato!saluti

@liEder89 E' vero, ma io volevo mettere in evidenza non solo l'acuto in sé (chei in parte può anche essere un dono di natura), ma anche la padronanza tecnica e mentale, che sono invece doti che vanno coltivate, come ha saputo fare Kraus (insieme ad altri, ovviamente). Saluti.
