I have MS and Sceroderma. If I take a treatment to help my MS my Scleroderma flares up and vice versa. Murphey's Law at it's best. Was told I'm the first in medical history to have all the problems I do. I've heard every rumored treatment for both and the only thing that has worked on my sclero is methotrexate.
OMG PEOPLE ITS NOT MS ITS NOTHING LIKE MS ITS SCLERODERMA LOOK IT UP I HAVE IT AND HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH IT FOR YEARS NOW ......................IM 41 YEARS OLD AND MET SOMEONE ELSE WITH IT FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER AFTER HAVING THIS FOR 36 YEARS JUST ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND SAD TO SAY SHE PAST AWAY 2 WEEKS AGO BECAUSE OF THIS HORRABLE R.I.P. BRENDA NO MORE PAIN
I just read the study and it does quote a 40% reduction in MS symptoms when patients take mega mega doses of vitamin D. How this works I really can't figure out. Anyway, they took like 8-10x the recommended dose. I would NEVER recommend anyone do this without a physician as Vitamin D toxicity is very serious. Good call on the Vitamin D tho. Maybe it will become a standard treatment someday. Still needs more research
@tdittyx2x3 are being caused by Vitamin D deficiency. We use sunblock, tanning beds, and even our foods no longer have the Vitamin D value they once had. They are asking people to be tested and depending how low you are, you may be put on high doses for say- the first 3 months, and then brought down to a dose of say 5,000 iu daily. It needs to be Vitamin D-3! Please everyone! Please get checked out! I sincerely believe this is the answer!
@tdittyx2x3 Believe me when I tell you that I know upside down and sideways everything there is to know about MS. And while we have always known what MS does to the body, it has never been figured out what causes this to happen. Until recently. It has always been noted that the farther north you live, the less sunshine you live with, the higher the incidence of MS. New studies have come out now (within the last year) saying that many of our diseases 'including and particularly MS'-
Multiple sclerosis does not involve vitamin D as far as I know. It's an autoimmune process where our own T cells destroy the myelin (the covering, like the insulation on a wire) on the neurons in the brain and spinal cord. Scleroderma is also an autoimmune process and doesn't have anything to do with Vit D. Vit D deficiency causes rickets in kids and osteomalacia in adults. This just means there's less calcium in the bone making them brittle and prone to fracture.
I have to wonder if this might be caused by Vitamin D deficiency. Like they're saying about MS. Do we know if this disease is more prevalent in colder climates like Canada and England? This could indicate Vitamin D deficiency!
