  • A very satisfying film. Thanks for upload.

  • I love westerns, they're America's version of Shakespeare. Good vs. bad, love, honor, deception. All the key elements of drama.

  • "And so the young shirrif said, if this is the best you can offer me, I may as well go Pshyco. He was talking about 'Fonda'

  • "Tell a woman a sad story about a load of crap, and they fall at your feet??"

  • A great film. Nothing like an Anthony Mann Western. The scene of the doctor (McIntire) arriving DEAD on his BIRTHDAY, with a newborn baby crying on the soundtrack (delivered by the doctor) is memorable, as was the shot of Fonda coming out with a badge on him (tho technically he wasn't sworn in so he wasn't a sheriff). Was it credible that Brand would be afraid to fight skinny Perkins? Great film, except one line was missing: GEEEEEEEEE Aaaaaaaaaaaa Efffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff.

  • "'Tis dangerous to take a cold, to sleep, to drink; but I tell you, my lord fool, out of this nettle, danger, we pluck this flower, safety" (Shakespeare, HENRY 14 I). Fonda never looked better. Elmer Bernstein's score is a a gem. It's a pity Perkins & McIntire were not paired for another movie! (Just joking, of course.)

  • Love the partnership of Perkins & Fonda.....did this movie ever gain any traction at the box office/cinema history??

  • Thanks for posting this great movie , I sure loved the ending ,just could not be any better.

  • 5***** I was left impressed by the story and the direction.

  • Many thanks to vanishingveronica for uploading this movie. It was my first western which I watched at a cinema theater in 1960. I always remember the movie title ... thanks again
