  • Im pretty sure this is for hunting purposes not farming...hearing is good...it wouldn't hurt to throw in some hand signals tho to

  • @bullynhoney um, i come from a farming family in aus, all of our dogs are trained for hand signals, there is a limit to how far a dog can hear from if there is alot of background noise like a thousand head of sheep or cattle bellowing and walking/trotting to try n hear over. never assume others are idiots mate, its you that comes off looking like a jackass

  • @wolfydan121 bud I believe fred knows a little more than some hand signals dog hearing is very good.

  • you should also look into using hand/arm signals, as using arm movements is effective long distance. farmers frequently use that here, where livestock make whistles/commands difficult to hear.

  • Nice dog. Different training method. Could be of value for those who can't use voice commands. Will send this to friends who have, through surgical mishap, illness or whatever, lost the ability to speak. Hand signals and clickers are the usual alternative, but are of limited value at a distance. Most dogs hear better than they see. A most interesting method!

  • I know you use the mat for the place command (we've done that through your basic classes), but in this case, is the mat as a transitional step to teaching the dog how to cast? In other words, the next step would be you sending the dog to make the retrieve, stopping her on the mat, then giving her a back cast to the bumper?

  • i wish my dog was that well trained

  • lmao very old video?...from 2000?...that was only 7 years ago. Old is a video from the 80's or 70's. lol
