@GBeret83 Good point!Did you forget that Bet Twice not only beat Alysheba in the Belmont,but beat him in the 87'Haskell,and finished ahead of him in the sloppy 87'Travers,as Bet Twice was 3-2 head to head as 3 yr olds. At 4, Bet Twice also beat Alysheba in the 88'Pimlico Special,with Alysheba beating him in the Iselin and Meadowlands Cup(5-4hd to hd).I think what happened was that Bet Twice tailed off real badly in that Med.Cup and was tailing off at the end of his career,so Croll tried the Mile

I never understood why a horse that ran as well as Bet Twice did against Alysheba in the 87' Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and in defeating him in the Belmont Stakes, why he ended up racing in the Breeders Cup Mile on turf in 88' instead of in the Classic against Alysheba again? Bet Twice was a ton better on conventional dirt than he was on turf. Had it not been for Alysheba being in that 87' 3yr.old crop? Bet Twice would've been the star 3yr.old of that season. Without a doubt.

A truly fantastic filly in her own right. This had to be a really tough blow for Goldikova's trainer, Freddie Head. As Miesque was his "Goldikova" in the saddle. Instead of the one that he trained. A great loss to the sport.
