The Sum of a Body (Half-Life 2 Machinima)

HALF LIFE

It has been 3 weeks since my last music video. I spent a week on the heavy metal Ravenholm video I had planned, but it wasn't turning out as I wanted so I abandoned that song and video and started this one. I made the music, wrote the lyrics, preformed the vocals and created the video in 2 weeks. Understand that this is the first time I have made a serious attempt to sing without completely masking it with filters as I did with the chorus of Taste the Cake. I know I have much to learn about singing and engineering the vocal tracks. I did mean for it to have a slightly over processed sound to the vocals for the purpose of the song's atmosphere, but it is also to shroud some of the sound quality issues I get from using a bathroom closet as a recording studio. To make things even more challenging, most of my hardware (including my PC) is nearly a decade old. I hope it doesn't distract from the intended inspiration I tried for on this one. As I get more experience at creating music, I imagine I will eventually settle into somewhat of a style somewhere between Taste the Cake and this one. I plan on trying a few different things first though. Much of the footage in this are typical HL2 scenes that people have seen tons of times, and some of the scenes are similar to some of my past videos. I did try to spice things up a bit with texture editing and camera angles though. I used Half-Life 2, Garry's Mod and Source SDK Face Poser for the lip sync on the chorus. Toward the end of the video I took a few scenes from HL2 Episode 1. The Gordon Freeman model I found on garrysmod.org by Crazy Joe. I hope this entertains you.
