@elamite66 No mate, The walloons wanted a federal country because they saw the flemish majority as a threat to them. Belgium isn't even a real democracy because of this. They made up all these stupid laws to make sure french speakers have 50% of parliament although they only make up 40% of the population. The flemish demands were simple back then, equal rights for our language and culture, we didn't ask for a federal country, the only way is a confederacy now.

@Donar331 I thought the Flemish did push to make Belgium a federal country if for no other reason but as a first step to Independence. This happened when? in the 1960s? I know previously it had been a unitary kingdom. If the French, or "Walloons"

made it federal giving the Walloons a province and the Flemish a province why? I would have thought they would want to maintain a unitary state under French control

Also what about French Flanders and the Netherlands? They are Flemish too, no?

@Enzymecore What's even funnier is that De Vlaamse Leeuw is a 1000 years old, while the Belgian flag exists since.. 1830, and is based on the German flag.

And to all those francophone idiots that know shit about belgian history, look up who decided to make a federal country. it weren't the Flemish. And what comes around goes around. Since the birth of Belgium the outward racism towards the Flemish majority has come back to bit you in the ass and only thing you can do is watch it all happen. wasn't it charles rogiers (first belgian pm) that said peu a peu on detruira l'element germanique au nord du pays.
