Calm down. Communism or indeed the left, had nothing to do with the reforms of Roger Douglas. They were reforms that followed a Neo-Liberal ideology which is a product of the right, they had to be done to boost the economy. They were continued by the National government in 1990. Robert Muldoon did indeed take this country to the brink, by July 17 1984, the NZ staffers in overseas embassies were being asked to use their credit cards because there was literally no money left in the country.
