why should we not celebrate our British heritage i am English and proud to be so
-
Well st patrick wasn't even Irish he was British and the Irish still have a bank holiday to celebrate him. How is English nationalism pointless England is a country, Britain isn't. We the English have every right to celebrate being english just like every other country celebrates their nation. I don't understand why you think its not right to celebrate England

I will all ways write on any form given to me that I am ENGLISH and nothing and no one will stop me. ENGLAND FOR EVER

@seaxwielder Greetings.True, the British are not exactly a race.Howvever, being from different races does NOT stop a nation being a nation. Look at America for example. There is no such thing as the American race, but they are a nation.
Race and nationality are not always the same. I am of English descent and have a British passport.
-
There is no such race as the 'British' people, nor a ' British' language.
The English named England after themselves, our ancestors go back to at least the 5th century on this island, and before that in Angeln in what is now Southern Denmark. My father flew Lancaster bombers in day and night raids over Berlin and Dresden. He was fighting for his people not some British state.

@hernhillrebel I've also been to 12ths in New York , Toronto and many times in Glasgow , would love to go to Liverpool some time but it clashes with the parades here in Northern Ireland . if you want to see some ulster culture type in "mourne young defenders " on you tube , hope you enjoy

@24582641 The 12th is celebrated in a few parts of Britain too and there was a big celebration of King Billy's arrival in Devon back in the eighties. Also in Sussex too where they still burn the pope!
Wrong! If you understand your heritage you don't fly the 'union' flag which is the sign of occupation of the British State which has been trying its best to destroy England for years.
Fly the cross of St George or better still the White Dragon flag which was the standard at the battle of Hastings and the symbol under which our brave king Haro;ld and his huscarls fought and died to a man protecting our fatherland, our England.

@seaxwielder I fly the flag of St. Edmund, our TRUE patron saint ! Anglo Saxon King that also died defending England !

More than a year on and only 2700+ views. Just proves no one gives a shit!! Everyone has been brain washed into Britain, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The way I see it is that all countries in the UK should have each others patriotic day as a bank holiday to learn about each others heritage! We're on the same boat lets respect one another.
English for life and proud of it!

@pow1983 Are you suggesting the whole of Great Britain logs into to watch youtube? Appreciate the comments, I am English & proud and agree thats what evey nation should do in Great Britain, but the governments since the end of World War ll have consistantly tried to disolve our heritage, traditions, customs & values. Its about time us British people show the government what we are really made of ! Waes Hael !
