This is the third installment of "Entering Ethnic Villages 进入少数民族村寨".
This final time, we entered the village of Mangang, a village inhabited by Hani people. The Hani people, who are closely related to the Akha people, are allegedly descended from the Yi people, at least according to their oral legends. In Central Yunnan the women wear varying shades of blue, which makes them stand out from the more colorflly dressed Yi and Miao (aka Hmong), but down in Xishuangbanna Prefecture, they wear distinct navy blue clothes, especially short jackets on the men, that are simply decorated.
Anyway, this is where we met the 厉害阿姨, or fierce aunty. At the house we stayed in, there was an elderly lady that was ridiculously strong. She was accompanied by her husband, who smoked cigarettes from the traditional Yunnanese bamboo bong, and who slept in what looked like a cage.
Anyway, this too was pretty fun
