September 21, 2009 Severe Weather - Cooke County

A rare September severe weather setup, provided by El Nino. This was a mediocre setup that proved significant event's can occur, such as the major downburst in Johnson county where several homes were several damaged. This chase was on the lucky US-82 corridor from Gainesville to Nacona, Texas. What's shown in this video includes a developing circulation, with an impressive inflow band coming from the south, wrapping around to the north and enclosing the circulation. You can also see the clear sky, which would be the RFD (Rear Flank Downdraft). Ten minutes after this video was shot a brief tornado was observed by myself and another chaser. I drove through golfball to hen egg sized hail (2.00 Inches) in Nacona, Tx. I surprise as I didnt expect such large hail in such a weak setup. Overall, Im very pleased with this chase, what went from me expecting a shelf cloud turned out to be the best cell of the day in all the state.
