CLIMATEGATE:
Climate deniers have been making a lot of noise about a set of stolen emails from one of the world's leading climate centers, The Universtiy of East Anglia. The spin they're putting out is that the emails reveal what they always suspected, an evil global conspiracy.

13 years of emails, and this is the best they can do? More of the REAL story behind the non-story:

The Climatic Research Unit e-mail hacking incident, referred to by some sources as "Climategate", began in November 2009 with the hacking of a server used by the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich.
Unknown persons stole and anonymously disseminated thousands of e-mails and other documents made over the course of 13 years. The university confirmed that a criminal breach of their security systems took place, and expressed concern "that personal information about individuals may have been compromised."
Norfolk police are investigating the incident and, along with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), are also investigating death threats made against climate scientists named in the e-mails.
Controversy arose after various allegations were made including that climate scientists colluded to withhold scientific information, interfered with the peer-review process to prevent dissenting scientific papers from being published, deleted e-mails and raw data to prevent data being revealed under the Freedom of Information Act, and manipulated data to make the case for global warming appear stronger than it is.
Climate scientists issued rebuttals and described the incident as a smear campaign, accusing the climate change sceptics of selectively quoting words and phrases out of context in an attempt to sabotage the Copenhagen global climate summit.
On November 24, the University of East Anglia announced it would conduct an independent review of the matter and subsequently announced that the CRU's director, Professor Phil Jones, would temporarily stand aside from his post during the investigation.

Constant references to "Al Gore" this, "Al Gore" that reveal that the people making the references are ignoring the total body of science. Gore is just a volunteer spokesman. He doesn't "own" the issue.
But Gore was instrumental in blocking Reagan from de-funding the CO2 measurement project of Charles Keeling. He's done good, despite his reputation of repeating the prognosis too much. Many people screen out bad news if they get inundated with it, but what else can be done, with so much apathy?

@PirateOfTheInternet The earth IS getting hotter right now, if you ask any serious scientists. In fact, its been getting hotter for quite some time. Of course the problem is not that simple. There are many variables taken into account when they make statements of what causes temperature increase. And greenhouse gasses are one of those variables, and its the only hypothesis that can stand critisism. All others have been debunked.

@gulbirk Your comment is an example of a disconnect between climate change believers and skeptics. Throwing aside what the people on tv say, we KNOW how the greenhouse effect works. The reason people are skeptical of global warming is because the problem IS NOT as simple as earth + CO2 = hot. The evidence isn't clear, especially when looking at the temp records for the last 800,000 years, the earth IS SUPPOSED to be getting hotter right now. I am just not certain that it's a big problem.

What do these muppets not understand? Global warming leads to extremes of weather

Climate Change denialists are worse than Holocaust denialists. There is a chance of billions of people dying, and they're denying the cause.

@gulbirk lol u still believe the garbage "scientests" are feeding you? your going to get a darwin award when you die

How can someone NOT understand that global warming is happening. Sun light comes from the sun to the earth. It hits the earth and is reflected out in the atmosphere again. CO2 holds the heat after it reflects on the earth. that means the more CO2 you get, the more heat will be contained. Its so fucking simple.

@phantomscolts2 And yet there's so much to go around here on earth, maybe more people should bring their minds back to it?
