Zemlinsky composed this second, intimte version of the poem "IN DER SONNENGASSE" by Arno Holz for his beloved pupil Alma Schindler; she found his invitation far too obvious and crass and tore up the score yet safely kept the torn paper in an envelope. Antny Beaumont found the tattered composition in the Alma Mahler collection at the University of Pensilvania and reassembled the song.
On a new released double CD Rebecca Broberg sings songs by Erich J. Wolff and Alexander Zemlinsky, never recorded before: MAERCHENTRAEUME - FURCHTBAR SCHLIMM! (Bella Musica/ Thorofon CTH 2562/2) Some of these songs she is also singing and acting in a new show by the pianopianissimo-musiktheater "WAHNFRIED-IDYLL - MAERCHENTRAEUME, FURCHTBAR SCHLIMM", first staged at Rehau, 25 September 2009
Piano: Hans Martin Graebner
Stage Director and Designer: Peter P. Pachl
