@Davesintexas Both. The necks are made from more than one kind of wood (maple and rosewood) giving it the stripe and then they are sprayed with the finish.

@puppiesinspace I've never had the chance to play a ric or a handmade guitar, but on principle I agree, I imagine guitars handmade by a local luthier are better than guitars made by a number of people and machines in a factory. However, I also imagine having a luthier build you a guitar completely by hand from scratch would be very expensive, considering the time involved- the reason companies like Rickenbacker, Fender, Gibson etc use factories.

@mrsub360 Local Luthiers where I live build better guitars than anything I've ever seen shit out by Rickenbacker. I know how bitter I sound after all of these comments, but I'm 100% serious.
