There are dozens of people who have given up their lives to follow certain people who claim to be "the chosen by God." Osama Bin-Laden, Sergey Torop, David Koresh, Jim Jones, George Ernest Roux, Wayne Bent, etc., etc., etc. People are generally stupid and will cling to anyone or anything that makes them feel like they are apart of something bigger than themselves.

DUDE, you're missing TAA's point: in the original video " I hate religion, but...." what he describes as Jesus" IS religion. what the-dude should have titled his video is: "Why I Hate Religion, But Love Religion"( my religion - not yours), because what he describes is his version.

Well spoken. I wish I had watched your video before I drafted my speech to him on his argumentative flaws. I'll be sending it anyways, but it'll be lacking of so many good points you were able to bring up. I just hope he's seen your version, and I'll be sure to give it an honorable mention in my message to him. Thank you, tobaaadil.

@ForeverNoobie Christianity requires us to be perfect. It's because we aren't that we require grace and reconciliation. The fact that we are given this freely is what makes the religion amazing at all.

Thank you!

Agreed
So any cult that manages to amass 12 or more members is probably valid? LOL.
You guys have redefined religion just so you can jump on the "I hate religion" bandwagon while still being religious. Religion is a set of beliefs regarding the divine. No religion claims every follower has to be perfect. Name one that has that as an official part of it's doctrine. Believing that Jesus existed and was the son of God IS religion. It's called Christianity. Stop trying to have your cake and eat it too.

@ForeverNoobie And you have jumped on the "I don't need God!" bandwagon because you think being strictly concerned with logic and rationality is intelligence. I admit, religion is beyond my comprehension. But you know what? I'm still a follower. There's just so much more to it than "proof" and "logic" that you all don't seem to understand...
And if you don't follow a religion, I don't think you'd understand the danger of culture infecting "religion," so the poem is irrelevant to you.

Fail response to the AmazingAtheist.... The spoken word did exactly what was expected. Contradict himself in conclusion. Even if this poem conveyed a perfect message explaining how religion is separate from Jesus, the beliefs are still based upon faith, which is NOWHERE NEAR a pathway to finding truth. How do you know Jesus even existed, let alone believe he performed miraculous acts? And if your answer is the bible, that is circular reasoning. You can't prove the bible with the bible.. FAIL
