They don't only show the problems and complain about it. They mostly show solutions to solvable problems. But Overpopulation is nothing you could make something against that easily.

Also, everyone already knows to a certain extant that we have many problems at hand, just being reminded over and over again gives people the feeling there's nothing they can do and doesn't benefit anything.
