Has anyone ever considered boring out a class 47 sulzer engine and fitting larger pistons? Anyone know if this is technically possible, after all if you have an aging loco that has ground its cylinder block a bit, it would make sense, obvioulsy there is a cost in terms of replacing the pistons but maybe there is a bit more HP to be gained??

Ah, the double six. Does exaclty what it says on the tin. Two inline 6 cyl engines side by side built into the same block with the cranks geared together. Its also probably the largest engine ever to be used in a UK loco at 266 litres, although not the most powerful. Bulit in Barrow, exported around the world.
