I was totally inspired by your TED talk. I love the topic of leadership and conducting, but have long been frustrated that people who talk about leadership don't know anything about conducting. I recently had the honor and privilege of presenting at TEDx in Santa Barbara and gave a talk called "Breathing Together - Leadership Lessons from Musical Ensembles" - hope you find it interesting. For some reason I can't put the link in here but you can find it by searching for the title.

I actually stopped watching this for a couple minutes to watch Rowan Atkinson conduct... Brilliant!

this guy makes me interested in classical music again!!!

@davtra ok, let's say it's just a show....
-
@gaemp I think Itay's main point was just the conducting styles in their own rights.

he makes a show... ok, but he doesn't know what he is talking about... how to campare the spirit of Radetzky March and Don Giovanni ouverture... Strauss was almost totally blind at the time of that footage... Karajan was not German, but Austrian....

i seen a conductor once that was feeling the music and actually making part of the preformance, after that my eyes where opened to what a true conductor should be like, I have yet to see a conductor after him even put in half HALF the performance or professionalism or feeling or effort, but i blame it on society for being so lazy, lax in there teaching, that they forgot that the conductor is a big big part of the performance, cause for real even a 3 yr can swing there arms to a beat.
The music in the video clips...
#1 1:20 - Radetzky March by J. Strauss Sr.
#2 4:30 - ???? Beethoven maybe? anyone?
#3 7:29 - Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks by R. Strauss
#4 9:05 - Symphony No. 3, Mvt 1 by Brahms
#5 11:55 & 14:25 - Symphony No. 7, Mvt 4 by Beethoven
#6 15:15 - Symphony No. 36 Linz, Mvt 3 Menuett by Mozart
#7 17:17 - Symphony No. 10 Unfinished - G. Mahler
#8 19:25 - Symphony No. 88, Mvt 4 by F. J. Haydn
Anyone know what the second clip is?

absolutely and utterly superb! I love it when I put off watching a TED talk because the title doesn't immediately capture my interest, but then when I watch it I'm rapt the whole time.
Very cool topic and great ending. A favorite of mine now.
