Tao Kombo - Seven Steps To Heaven

is an instrumental quintet based in Jakarta- Indonesia where all members are established session players.

In 2007, after years of friendship and various collaborations, French percussionist Philippe Ciminato together with Nikita Dompas (guitars), Donny Sundjoyo (Doublebass), Ali Akbar Sugiri (piano, fender Rhodes, keys) and Sandy Winarta (Drums) decided to get together and create collectively.

Their music is multi-influenced and based on improvisation from composed material. All the original works are drawn from the exploration of each character in the band. They are currently working on the bands debut album due for release in November 2008.

TAO KOMBO means the place of young coconuts in Indonesian Sasak dialect. More universally, a music ensemble (Kombo) inspired by the philosophy of Taoism. The Elements of Nature providing the chance to celebrate human life and harmony.

With this double meaning and concept of balance, through musical creation, the band members try to achieve this beautiful principle.

We believe that the combination of learning, creating and performing is sharing. Sharing positive vibes, serve the music and establish harmony as we are all different but yet the same.
