Advertising campaign done by Joe Public. Drivers who have taken their number plates off to avoid being caught by speed cameras are targeted by sticking a magnetic number plate that says SPEEDKILLS.GP on their car. When they remove the plate they find a message on the back that says,"WHEN YOU HAVE A HEAD-ON COLLISION AT 180KM/H A SPEEDING FINE WILL BE THE LEAST OF YOUR WORRIES. One third of all fatal crashes are caused by speeding. Don't use your vehicle as a weapon." The campaign was recently featured by Jeremy Mags on eTV.

  • Nice one Brendan. This was very clever, I stumbled upon this video by chance and then I recognised it was you in the videos, ha ha, you looked so guilty after sticking them on the cars...

  • Argentina is No.1 - 22 deaths/day - 328 wounded/day - USD 20billion in damages/year

    (2007 est.)

  • You may come close one day. Nobody drives fast with the intention of having an accident. But when they do they often take out a few extra people with them. Think about it.

  • I have to agree with you. The first question when going for learner is: What is one of the most importan rules. Keep left pass right. These asses do not do that. They will hold you up and when you try and pass, they speed up.And people are to busy on cellphones,or chatting away like sitting in their living room. And some are just spitefull!!

  • Wow, powerful words my friend!

'Easy to criticize when you're peering in from the outside. Ain'it?'

They should stick that up when ever someone has a crash!

  • I agree with stiggiethefirst, it is the slow chops, ones on cells and ones not paying attenting on the road that cause the problems. I am not too much of a speedster but when I get on the road to drive, I drive. The fast lane is not meant for snails!

  • The fact remains that this campaign was started in Johannesburg due to the high death toll traffic accidents cause. Numbers you would be awestruck when comparing those against the numbers in your country.

Think outside the box and a bit into the context next time before sprawling such comments on the net.

  • Bru, you got any better suggestions? The fact of the matter is, unlike in Holland, speeding & reckless driving is a massive killer here in SA. Easy to criticize when you're peering in from the outside. Ain'it?
