ARPES-Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy--Is accomplished by detecting the angle- and energy-dependent emission of electrons induced by soft x-ray radiation impinging on a sample. Modern detectors such as this one yield a real-time image of the electronic bandstructure of solids at the detector plane.
