Night carrier landing in the Mediterranean. Camera is attached to my helmet so you can see the landing from inside aircraft '703'. '701' is on approach 2.5 miles in front of '703'. You can hear the radio comms and internal comms. The carrier becomes visible at about the 2:00 point. The voice you hear most is from the Naval Flight Officer in the right seat of '703'. Also shown is the taxi to final parking after the landing. Landing on the boat at night isn't the only thing that's dark and scary.
supercool! if i ever did life again, i want to be in a similar seat!

Very cool, thanks for bringing your camera along. I am currently applying to navy OCS with SNA as my first choice and NFO as my second. What are you flying?

I was in Aviation O.C.S. in Pensacola when I was 23, just at ending period of the Vietnam War, and was part of a class of 90+ student naval aviators/nfos. About 30 of us DORed before the 17 weeks of pre-commissioning training was up, and I really suppose DORing was the bes option for me, for I don't know if I could have really made in through carquals, day and night. But it wasn't the fright factor that prompted a lot of us to DOR. The math/physics was a killer to us.
