Spanish Ladies

Here's a song of the sea. It's one of those songs/tunes that everyone thinks they know because it's been mentioned in literature, (Herman Melville's 'Moby Dick',) reproduced in orchestral works, (Henry Wood - you know - Proms, and all that!) and performed in recentish films, (Master and Commander.)
I found it in Roy Palmer's excellent volume 'The Oxford Book of Sea Songs'.
Hindsight being such a wonderful thing, I notice that I am not entirely faithful to Mr. Palmer's published lyrics. Hey-ho, regard that as the oral/aural tradition! Such is the nature of impending Alzheimer's.. !

This is a wonderful rendition! I generally prefer it at a faster tempo, but this is lovely nonetheless!
