Hi, this is Lynn Lumpkin sports commentator for CRWE Newswire. This is the Sports Corner.
Today, I am happy to report the Minnesota Vikings, after seven months, are at last putting the final touches on the Metrodome's Teflon-coated fiberglass ceiling.
The ceiling collapsed last year, two games from the end of the season, from 17 inches of snow in 24 hours. The roof has only collapsed four times in the Metrodome's history and this is the first time since 1983.
Also, something wonderful happened yesterday! The U.S. womens team beat France to advance to the World Cup, their last appearance was in 1999.
The truly exciting part of this win was that Abby Wambach scored a crucial goal with the game tied in the 79th minute of the game. Their next challenge is to face Japan in the World Cup in Frankfurt on Sunday.
And now breaking news ...the Roger Clemens perjury trial was just declared a mistrial because of prejudice information that was revealed to the jury.
U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton had told the prosecutors two times to watch what they revealed but I guess they didn't listen.
Thats it for this Thursday with the CRWE Sports Corner I'm Lynn Lumpkin.
