I disagree. I'd take on a guy with a knife with a Kusari Fundo. A gun is another matter. Learn how to use one and then make an educated comment Kenjutsumasters.

Tu take the Kusari Fundo and shove it up anyones ass, the agressor must first see it coming and secondly take it. I haven't even watched the video, but I know about japanese and Ninja weapons. Everything in the world can be an efective weapon in the right hands. And specially sir, combat experience in warfields is very different from street self defense situations: We don't have machine guns or anything like this. If your opinion is not constructive, you should go to a Dojo and try to learn.

omg, the slow motion water mellon lol, awesome.

That was pretty neat. Those weighted ends could crack a skull

@Kenjutsumasters Yes.. but not every one is going to come at you with a gun.. Its useful against melee weapons (blades, bats etc) but ofcourse its pretty useless against a gun. As are most melee weapons.

@schwede06 Hear hear! Rightfully spoken.

And of course it can be useful as a concealed weapon in some situation, and to make the first hit.

I agree you in part. It is not possible to catch the enemy arm if he has a knife, a gun or any weapon, but it is a great concealed weapon, and it is useful to hit the enemy with the weight in the end and to make him stay at a distance. Anf even after some hits and if the enemy is stunned, then maybe those techniques could be possible to do in some way.

A man with a weapon, any weapon, is twice the man without one.

@Kenjutsumasters No I agree with you I know some people hate the "What If's" but its the what ifs that kill you, people willing to bet there life on a weighted chain better start writting out there last will and testament lol theory is fine but nothing makes up for experience.

Im sorry but lets face reallity if you pull out this chain and weights (Kusari-fundo) in a real fight against someone with a gun or a knife then the bad guy is going to take it from you and shove it straight up your ass, but what the hell do I know I only spent 2 years with my airborne regiment in east africa (Somalia) anyone with combat experience would agree with me ,in my opinion this is not an affective hand to hand weapon for the reality of a modern street fight or self defence situation!

You are absolutely right! Traditional weapons of ancient Japan or Okinawa have nothing to do with modern combat. Therefore we did NOT call it "Reality [...]" - but just: Kusari Fundo. We love and enjoy also traditional training, because students learn a lot about distance andy body movement. We all know, that in real fighting there is no way of performing or controlling, nothing goes the right way and the result is always blood, pain and psychological traumata. Stay safe!
