What a special experience for you, an absolutely beautiful bird, their metabolic and locomoter capabilites are incredible, so efficient. They generally continuously eat, and almost instantly use up the energy from the necter or insects eaten.

Amazing! Dadburn phone! This video would have been longer if the phone hadn't run. This little fella looks just like the ones i see in my own yard in western NC.

@hawkin939 Yes, it is an Anna's Hummingbird (Calypte anna). Filmed in San Diego where they are present year round.

So cute!! That one looks like an Anna's hummer. Are you from the West Coast? That is where most of them are. They like the chartreause color of my raincoat and will follow me around the yard when I'm wearing it but never have allowed me to touch them.

@2westwind Thank you for the post. Yes, an Anna's Hummingbird filmed in coastal San Diego. They are quite inquisitive and often hover in front of me or in front of a window I may be standing near. Great "friends".

I cannot believe this bird let you touch him----and hovered for so long in the same place-----really amazing.

@pariapsara LOL! I spend quite a bit of time in the yard and think they just became accustomed to me being there. Even when on hands and knees weeding or planting they would buzz in over my shoulder out of curiosity. Great fun!
