1977 Dannon Yogurt Commercials "Georgians Over 100"

This commercial was given credit for the yogurt industry's meteoric rise in popularity. Filmed in Georgia in 1977, these healthy senior citizens were given Dannon yogurt as compensation (so I heard). This was also the first American commercial filmed in the old Soviet Union.

I have been asked so many times by so many Americans about this commercial and if it's true that Georgians live long because they eat yogurt. Well we do live long but not because of eating yogurt. It's because the way we treat our elderly.They are part of our everyday life, they are very involved in their family's life,rasing grandkids,making family decisions etc.They are never left alone,or in nursing homes. Being involved, feeling needed and loved- That's the key to long life!!!

They could live long for reasons other than yogurt. the first 3 men they show are doing manual farm labor in their old age which could keep them young. Also they might not overeat themselves to death, and i assume they don't live on cheese doodles and doritos, and drink a 64 ounce coke at lunchtime. I remember this commercial quite well, and liked it then and now. .

the fact that lots of Georgians live over 100 is not because they eat Dannon Yogurt :))))) But one of the reasons is that they eat Georgian yogurt type of food Matsoni, plus food there is much healthy as well as environment where they live. Also they drink Georgian wine, which is very good for health :) There are many other reasons. The commercial is funny though.
